The Relationship Between Print and the Web →

Peter and I have had this conversation many times and I’m glad he’s written down his views on the relationship between print and the web for publications:
Still, the flaw in the print person’s perspective is in thinking that there is any relation between your print audience and your web audience. There is none. You are not undercutting your print product by publishing a...
Discover Magazine: Is Quantum Mechanics... →
So this is interesting. According to an article in Discover Magazine, our sense of consciousness may come from various quantum phenomenon occurring in our brains. I’ve theorized for a few years now, mind you with almost no scientific basis, that the concept of “free will” could only exist if our decisions were in some way based on the randomness of quantum physics. And if the...

Betsy McCaughey: You're so rich. You can afford to provide care for anybody in your family, whatever they need.
Jon Stewart: That's right. That's why I don't mind being taxed a little more to help people who are not in as favorable a situation. I don't mind that. In fact, I welcome it, because it's a way for me to give back to the country that has allowed me to come this far.

Gay ministers will be allowed to lead parishes, representatives of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) voted today in Minneapolis.
The 559-451 vote marks a historic change for the 4.8 million ELCA members, including 830,000 in Minnesota.
The vote repeals the ELCA’s ban on gay clergy unless they agreed to remain celibate. The new position allows the installation of gay pastors but...

My New Hero: Barney Frank
I love when Congressmen compare blathering idiots to dining room tables. Also when they talk about how great the 1st Amendment is for letting said crazies say crazy things.
For those of you who haven’t seen Barney Frank asking a woman upon which planet she spends most of her time, videos are here and here.
So it’s ok to post things on my tumblr that I’m pretty sure none of my followers will like, right? Because this video makes me chuckle.

So I’m really worried about computers becoming smarter than we are, and yet lacking the capability to feel empathy and, most importantly, love. And I don’t mean romantic love, ἔρως, but rather the highest form of love, ἀγάπη. Heck I’d even settle for φιλία.
I just think it would make them much better overlords.
